 | 12:44 pm - I miss you already.
Even though it's supposed to be Winter, it being almost December soon, the end of Autumn lingers here. A week ago, I stepped outside to find the first snow almost melted on the still green grass. In the evenings I drive my bike past little puddles of water with a thin film of ice, some trampled on by children or other creatures, making them look like shattered glass. This is the time I hate the grey days and love the dark nights. The colourful, flaming bright Autumn was short this year. I found these images my magician of a photographer Q took at the same days with the photos in my introduction post such a long time ago. I just never got around publishing them here, so I thought that now is a good time, before the Winter chill seeps in.
( Marie Pawpins ) I've just passed the millinery course and I have most of my hats home by now, so more about them soon!
See you later! Ms. Kuura

 | 04:04 pm - Ribbon embroidery!
Hallo! We've moved onto Autumn already, I see. Hailing from this strange city, I did get an apartment fast and have been settling to school. The first period is over now, actually, and after this I have a course in millinery, which I'm overly giddy about. On the first period we mostly went trough the basics of sewing, made some bags and other small things, nothing too interesting really. But! We also had the basics of embroidery! Oh joy!
I have never done embroidery, so it was nice to get the chance to try different materials. Sad thing is, we didn't have ribbon embroidery, even though there were books about it. It just isn't very popular or fashionable here, so it's hard to get big enough amounts of silk ribbon for teaching. I, of course, couldn't let this slide. We had to make something that would have any kind of embroidery on it, and I decided to take the books in my hands and study ribbon embroidery myself. I took a fabric that I started making a dress from (ages ago, and it's still not finished...) embroidered flowers and other plants on it and made a headdress! It was surprisingly easy and fun. If I could get me small frames that I could hang from necklaces, I would make little embroidered flowers into the frames. Wouldn't they be pretty?
Ah, and of course: pics, or didn't happen!
The finished embroidery in a frame that stretches the fabric so it's easier to work with. Next is some detail shots of the finished product, with lace on the edges.

Oh, and I wondered if you'd like some outfit posts from time to time? It's a bit difficult to photograph yourself (since I really don't know anyone from around here) but there's always self-timer. I'd like to get pictures of some outfits just to be able to evolve, but it's not like I'm making this blog a 'what I wore today' -type of thing. Thanks for looking and see you again!
